Christmas Cheer!

A very successful Christmas season this year!  My first time making home-made sugar cookies from scratch.  Had a very successful cookie party with my lady friends.  All in all a great year!!

Long Weekend means lots of projects!!

This weekend felt shorter than most with the list of projects a mile long.  At times I feel like I add insignificant things to the list just to feel the satisfaction of crossing something off! haha like make a list... check! Among many other things this weekend mainly consisted of painting my bedroom, putting up the tree, decorating for christmas,  cleaning the entire house, dusting the baseboards and scrubbing the floors.   Well additions to this list included scrubbing spilled paint off the floors, cleaning shards of ornament glass up from every surface within 30 ft of the tree, and purchasing new Christmas ornaments! Haha all and all a very productive but exhausting weekend.  I have pictures that I will be posting soon to show my beautiful new gray paint!

Denim and Debauchery

Halloween was filled with triple decker denim and tons of debauchery and drinking!  Troy and I went as the couples version of a Canadian Wedding.  A few people actually thought that we were my parents, which is hilariously awesome too!  I cut off the sleeves of the dress and added elastic.  Blue lace curtains matched perfectly as the lacy denim sleeves of my beautiful gown.  I hand sewed the veil in multiple shades of blue tulle.  I also fashioned a blue bouquet that I threw into a crowd of my single lady friends.  The hair is a whole story on its own.  I used almost an entire can of aquanet and had to wash it 5 times to get it all out!  My biggest accomplishment though was the denim boutinerre I created out of scraps of an old dress.  We had a great making and wearing our costumes and have already began planning for next years look!!

Sanding away on my trunk and hit the jackpot!!! Gorgeous floral motif tin!! I am super excited about this! 

Playing Catchup! ketchup?!

Haven't updated in a while.  I have been in NYC seeing the sites and eating tons of food!  I have decided to resign my current lease which means more home projects to follow.  I have been sanding down the inside of my trunk, boy that thing smells musty!  Trying to clean it up contemplating how far to go with fixing it up.  Should I completely re-do it or maintain its broken down, antique feel?? hmmm? Also came up with an amazing idea for a new line of plush toys! Excited to start sewing them up!

Moonlighting as the seeds of .com love grow before my eyes

I have been eavesdropping on some incredible first dates this week.  Now you may think this is rude, until you realize that I am moonlighting as a bartender for extra cash and have a bad case of bartender ear.

Bartender Ear - a condition in which a bartender can listen to bits of conversation around the bar with out appearing that they are listening nor interested.

This can make for some really great stories but also some regretful moments where you here things you wished you never would have.  So this week there seems to be an influx of .com daters meeting at my establishment.  The first couple was a lawyer and a psychology doctorate student, the future of America right!? A match made in .com heaven.  Thank you 1,000 compatibility check levels you have matched the two most egotistical people in the greater Columbus area.  After listening to them talk over one another about how amazing they were and their lives were going to be, I was feeling a little nauseous.
In walks a normal enough looking redhead meeting a plain looking, polo wearing, crew cut up gentlemen.  Seems innocent enough and the two engaged in the normal "what do you do?" convo, I walk away to bring the check to the two egomaniacs.  Who are undoubtedly ready to head out and see who is better at sex.  Swinging my ever listening ear back around I realize that the two "normal people" are on the subject of their mutual love for their multiple cats.  They are discussing how they can differentiate between their individual meows and how Oreo has a scar on his snout.  Plain looking, polo wearing, crew cut up gentlemen is stating how one of the recent life transitions he made was from a dog person to a cat person.  Redhead's eyes light up with intrigue and desire.  Yes, redhead you heard it right... you have found your soul mate.

Junk Treasure

I was driving down the street the other day, and it just happened to be a street sale.  (Like I didn't know that in my unstoppable quest for junk!) Spotted this and started screaming "stop the car! I see something I need!" So this is my new project and treasure.  I have started cleaning it up but there is a lot of work to do! Keep posted for progress updates!

Junk store ChaIR!!

Have been working on painting up this mini chair I found in a junk store recently.  Now all I have to do is make a tiny friend to sit in it!

Had an impromptu vacation went my stomach decided to try to escape through my mouth on Thursday.  Got bored resting and reading and started painting a bunch of random objects that have been around my house.  Boredom some times creates masterpieces, maybe so in this case.  I actually repainted this owl lantern that I acquired from my friendly neighborhood goodwill.  That is looking pretty cool so far.  If you know anything about me you know that of course it is not done yet.   It is coming along though and maybe next time my stomach plans an escape I will have time off work to finish it!!

Junkin

Went to the junk stores yesterday.  Found all kinds of amazingness to inspire and wonderize me.  I bought an antique coffee scoop and a mini chair and some other items.  Also saw lots of interesting items that I would rather die then include in my daily life.  It was a fun little day trip to have!  I have lots of fabric staring me in the face but seem to have hit a creativity road block.  I am trying to break that hurdle and get some inspiration going on!!
